I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve read that have been falsely defined by damaging words and negative put downs. You can only be told you’re worthless so many times before you start to believe it. One woman told me how for eighteen years she had dreamed of the day that she would meet her birth father. When the day finally came and she sat down with him for the first time, all he told her was that she was a mistake. Words have the power to heal. But stories like this have reminded that words also have the power to destroy.
